Character building

Take a closer look at the characters in Sports Day on Mount Olympus and develop them through drama and writing. Based on ideas by Corrina Burge, classteacher at The Meadows Primary School, Birmingham.

Share a story with your class and spark an imaginative journey that means they’ll all be super-keen to get their ideas on paper. Tell them that you are going to work together to create an extended version of the story. Each group of children will take a character and write a new story scene from that character’s point of view. But in order to do a good job of this, they first need to get to know their character really well.
