Teachers say...

There’s a lot we could say about Springboard Stories but we'll let our readers do the talking for us

We love to talk, so join in the conversation by following us on Twitter and joining us on Facebook.

“I really enjoyed the first copy – in education there are lots of ‘voices’ but this one is fresh and relevant to education now. It has a superb theme and genuine curriculum links but isn’t prescriptive – like lots of resources. The ideas are there and the inspiration is exciting - but I could spend an afternoon tweaking the ideas into a lovely week or term to use with my class."

Claire Finkell, Deputy Head, Birmingham.

Claire Finkel, primary school Deputy Headteacher and Literacy Co-ordinator talks about her subscription to Springboard Stories.

  • I loved being introduced to a book that I hadn’t come across before. The resources are great because although as a teacher I think of related activities and curriculum links whenever I read a children’s book it is nice to have a starting point on which to develop ideas that would work within an individual setting.

  • “The magazine positions teachers as creative practitioners and scaffolds that creativity with constructive ideas, resources, and strategies. It is an enlightening antidote to the kind of prescriptive and restrictive curricular diktat emanating from the current Government. We need Springboard Stories to keep the spirit and ethos of English primary education alive. Brilliant.”

  • “It is so heartening to find such a beautifully presented and published magazine that is so generous with practical, realistic ideas and projects that directs but doesn't dictate, presents but doesn't prescribe. Springboard Stories affords teaching professionals and parents the chance to acquire, adopt and adapt activities to suit their own teaching style and present children with a confidence-building, all-encompassing experience of stories and storytelling. With every issue there are just so many cross-curricular possibilities, links and multi-media resources and an overall 'can do', positive attitude that it makes you want to try them all immediately. Repeated reading will allow you to develop a broad-spectrum of activities to enliven any teaching session. I would recommend this to NQTs and Home-teachers for the endless ideas and classroom activities and to established teachers for the fresh approaches to many curriculum subjects. The fact that the articles are written by currently practising educators makes it all the more relevant and compelling.”

  • “All the magazines so far have been great. Issue two really captured my class's imagination. We shared the story and explored some of its beautiful language. From that we created some fabulous winter poems. Even those that struggle a little with describing words and adventurous vocab were contributing phrases such as shimmering cobwebs and icy walls, crashing waves and empty beaches. I really look forward to receiving the magazine – keep up the great work!”

  • “Teachers like fresh ideas that they can adapt themselves and what Springboard Stories offers is ideal. My class enjoyed both of the stories I have used so far and even the reluctant boys were inspired to write. They absolutely loved watching the storytelling videos and incorporated many of the storytellers’ words into their own retellings. A fabulous resource – the best money I have spent in a long time."
