Education writer and teacher, Louise Dobson, gets into healthy-eating mode by planning a hamper fit for young Olympians.

The current (non-statutory) curriculum for PSHE in Key Stages 1 and 2 promotes teaching about healthy life choices, including thinking about health and well-being when considering food choices, and the part a balanced diet plays in a healthy lifestyle. Not only do children have to learn the importance of healthy eating, they also need to be taught what each food type ‘gives’ to the body, such as carbohydrates being the most important source of energy.
