Become a history detective… get on the case and time travel back to the 17th century to discover what Isaac Newton did for us. You’ll be amazed!
In this issue’s radio play, The apple and the planet, our time-travelling hero Amadeus Jones visits the 17th century, where he meets scientist and astronomer Isaac Newton. Listen to the audio resource, then let the children research some other 17th century people and events to help them get a feel for what was going on in the world during Newton’s lifetime. Newton was born in 1643 and died in 1727. Do the children know, or can they find out, what else was happening in Britain at that time? Can they arrange the events in chronological order?
